A US Junior National Team member from 1990-1992 and bilingual in French, Pico spent two years playing Division I field hockey while studying and working in Brussels, Belgium before returning to California in 1994.
Pico has two degrees from San Francisco State University: a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a Photojournalism emphasis (1998) and a Master of Arts in International Relations (2007).
